'The Florida State University- Spain Branch' or FSU-Spain is one of FSU’s international campuses located in Spain’s third largest city, Valencia. The campus, open to all interested students, is located in a restored building in the historic downtown quarter. It provides students with state-of-the-art wireless center including classroom space, administrative offices, a computer lab, and self-contained full furnished/full amenity student apartments. Lengths of residency vary from six weeks to a year.

History

FSU's first Valencia campus was established in 1997 but has since relocated to a renovated building adjacent to the famous Serrano Towers and contains remains from 4th century Rome.

Academics

As one of FSU’s main international campuses, the Valencia Study Center features a broad curriculum program which offers courses in a wide variety of academic majors encompassing basic Liberal Studies, Hispanic Culture, intensive Spanish Study, and Business.

  • East Meets West programs helps students acquire a global perspective to enhance their studies and their world. The program brings students from the United States, Europe, and Middle East together for an academic experience focussing in the exchange of cultures.
  • An Iberian Studies minor is available to students wishing to pursue 15 credit hours in various Iberian Studies disciplines.
  • The First Year Abroad program is available in Valencia which allows freshman students to complete their first 12 months of their Florida State career studying abroad with International Programs. All classes are taught in English except foreign language. Upon completion of 36 FSU credit hours with a 3.0 GPA or better, out of state students are eligible to receive in-state tuition for the remainder of their undergraduate degree at Florida State University in Tallahassee.
  • Internships- Students studying in Valencia can be involved with internships ranging from business and marketing to museums to social services to higher education.

Housing

FSU's Valencia Study Center is equipped with living accommodations for about 80 students. Students get to enjoy living in high quality apartments that include bathrooms with a shower, a living room with a TV, and a fully equipped kitchen. Bed linens and towels are provided, as well as cleaning once per week. The center provides free laundry facilities and 24/7 front desk coverage and security.
